Neither of us set out to make lamps.
Two Waves started the way most honest things do — with a problem we kept running into and couldn't stop thinking about. Every lamp we looked at for our own place was either mass-produced and forgettable, or handmade and priced like art. Nothing in between felt considered. Nothing felt like us.
So we started sculpting our own. Slowly, in a small studio off the Indian Ocean in Scarborough, teaching ourselves what a 3D printer can do when you stop treating it like a factory machine and start treating it like a tool — the same way a potter treats a wheel.
The name comes from where we live and how we work. Two waves, cresting and settling, over and over, patient. That's the studio. That's the pace we build at. Every lamp still leaves our hands — printed, cooled, finished, signed, numbered — before it goes anywhere near your door.
We're not trying to be everywhere. We're trying to make the objects we couldn't find, well enough that you stop looking too.
